#%$@!!!

I wonder why people love to curse when something goes wrong or not to what they expected or when they’re really damn angry or when they’re simply ecstatic.

It just comes out naturally without any hesitation or second thoughts only for you to realize opps... you’ve actually muttered it out in front of your parents, teachers, aunties, uncles, respected elderly people and they’ll give you this flabbergasted look, snap out of it & reprimand you not to say ‘that’ word ever again.

But I take it that these words we frequently use which are clearly classified as profanity is just a form of expressing ourselves. And yes, to a certain extent, it helps release stress.

Picture this - getting backstabbed by someone you trusted or badmouthed by someone you knew or cheated by someone you loved and you’re not able to utter a single insult about that person ... how horrific that would be. Isn’t it a relief to be able to string a couple of not-so-nice-to-hear words together while venting your anger? To a certain extent, it makes you feel like you’ve gotten your revenge, leaving you satisfied if not happier.

Nevertheless, certain words should not be mentioned to people & at places where it shouldn’t be heard but I guess it won’t hurt to blurt out these words in a nicer way.

Defecation! (Bio book taught us that)

Nincompoop! (sounds rather cute)

Queen of the universe! (quite majestic, eh...)

Hell should be alright I guess, after all it’s written all over in the book of revelation.

I am in this?

When I got this e-mail from Hazel, I knew less of what it actually meant. I mean, what in the world could the word 'contribute' in that sentence mean? I'm supposed to be some sponsor for the formation of the new RojakLah Corporation or something?

It took my quite a long time before I finally realized that I've actually been made into the latest recruitment of The RojakLah clan.
Welcome, me!

And so it was Diwali last Saturday. Happy Diwali to everyone that reads this! Basically, Diwali means Festival of Lights, which explains all the lamps lit by Hindus in the temple & at their houses during the celebration.

I had my open house on Sunday, which was attended by almost 40 of my friends, Roy being the only one from The RojakLah Clan. I never knew how it was like to be the host of such a big crowd as it was normally less than half of that.

The dishes served to the pleasure of everyone present were:

Briyani rice

Chicken curry

Dry mutton curry

Fried chicken, the ON DEMAND food of the day

Vegetable salad dressed with mayonnaise

My mom started her work in the kitchen at around 7 in the morning, and she never stopped cooking till 7 in the evening! There were people coming and coming and coming, one after another as the dishes started going less and less and less, finishing one after another.

I really do feel for her. She never complained even after all she did. I don't think you could find many mothers out there who would just cook the entire day & not complain when you invite that many guests. She even sent my brother to buy more frozen chicken which she marinated and fried, since everyone went, "Is there more friend chicken? I want moreee". And their wish, my mom granted, with her magic frying pan!

Apart from the fried chicken, there was something that was highly in demand. Its the symbol of Indians and Diwali. Its arguably the most popular Indian snack that everybody just loves to munch on.
Presenting.....

the Muruku!

Wanna have some taste of this magical snack? Just come over to my house.

From The Nuttiest Of All

Just look at THAT. I'm downloading a movie now (censored the title but don't worry, nothing indecent) and look! 1554kB/s??? And it went faster after that too, just that I got tired of changing the image every time it went up.

Oh look it's done downloading. It took around... 10 minutes?

Hahahahaha. Jealous edi anot? =D

K have to go now, think my housemate is coming back soon (I'm using his line).

Any more movies to recommend, write here okay!

Miss you people, talk soon!

Alive & Kicking

I'm currently facing my semester finals with two papers already completed but four more stacks of dead plant to mentally devour. It's excruciating. The end of this exam period will be comparable to the end of SPM, and boy is that end taking it's time to get here.

Until that end comes, I'm not sure I can give you guys a real post. And yes, I know a proper post is a long time coming from me, which is why i posted THIS. It's a nifty reminder to you guys (The Rojak Clan) that I still remember our blog's existence and that I will be making an effort to soon post something properly thought up and constructed, as oppose to the excuse-of-a-post this is.

With that ending note I'd just like to post one rhetorical, not-meant-for-your-answering, heart-venting question...

WHY DO THE SINGAPOREANS GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO CATCH MY FAVOURITE AUTHOR NEIL GAIMAN LIVE IN ACTION IN THEIR COUNTRY WHILST I'M STUCK HERE STARING ENVIOUSLY AT THEIR WEB PAGE???

Missing!

Fellow bloggers at rojaklah.blogspot.com.

#1 Roy

#2 Cheryl

#3 Nickolai

#4, #5, #6 Lily, Sarah, Yihui

For a while now, there has been no word from them. What's going on in their lives? Why are they so silent? Well maybe if they're still safe and sound, this will encourage them to blog more often. Please do! Some people are thinking that this blogger blogging so often is a sign of her lifelessness.

Well moving on to blogger #7, Hazel.

1. This person has recently acquired a 500gb Buffalo!

K just kidding la. Not that, but this.

Am very proud of it! Even though my brother said it's a waste of money.

2. Was watching a show called "I Shouldn't Be Alive" the other day. They told the story of how two guys were sort of shipwrecked on an island called Guardian Angel, which is a completely uninhabited island, and nearly died there cos well it's uninhabited and there's no food OR water there.

See this island that's called Guardian Angel? Completely barren. Kesian la the person who gets a guardian angel like this. And it's so ironic actually that people can die of thirst at sea or on islands where the water is ALL AROUND.

3. I started playing Geo Challenge on Facebook also. It's quite addictive! Sumore I'm very pro edi now. With a score of 27000++ I dah qualified to be a travel writer! And ah, just look at the flags of all the countries wei.

Albania

Swaziland

Wales

If I had grown up drawing these as my national flag, I would've died la. Be functional! Like this. My favourite of all.

Flag of Libya

4. Found this too. It's a rough formula to predict the height of children.

For guys: Sum of parents' height divided by two, then add 6.5cm.
For girls: Sum of parents' height divided by two, then minus 6.5cm.

It's supposed to be quite accurate lo, but apparently not for my family. Cos I'm still short by 6cm and by brother has extra 6cm. You see la.

5. A guy from the US was on Discovery last week. This guy has been blind since a very young age. Then when he was around 7 years old, he started making clicking sounds (like how dolphins do). Now he's the only human who uses echolocation to get around! He can even tell different materials apart using his clicks. Like a ringing sound would be glass and something more muted would be cloth? And tell where there's a wall in front of him or where's an open space and stuff like that. Geng ler.

6. Going to end this post with a video Pn. Shirley showed me. It's hilarious! Watch it.

Today!

Facebook is so interesting. You get to play weirdly uninteresting games like Mafia Wars and Friends For Sale and Pet Society. And you get to see who's in or out of love! Wonder why people like to parade that around... Oh and you get to stalk the people too! See what they play, see where they went, see who their circle of friends are, see their relationship status... *cough cough*

ANYWAY.

First part of today was pretty normal la. Got up relatively early, ate, practised, went online, lunched, went online. Then at 4pm I went to church and stayed till 10pm! For class and practice and somemore practice and then a session.

After church I came home and printed some things for mom, and while doing that went online A LITTLE WHILE and then suddenly it was 11.30pm edi. O.o And THEN i remembered I need a white formal blouse for tomorrow and went searching for it. And when I found it, it was sitting in the 'to-be-ironed' basket! OH NO. So I took half an hour to iron it (it's a really fussy blouse) and went up to my room feeling exhausted but very content. *proud* And THEN! I remembered... I need black pants for tomorrow too! Checked my cupboard and it wasn't there. =.= Decided to wear a brown skirt for tomorrow. XD

Oh and, I just removed my contact lenses and cleaned them. And poured the solution on my bedroom rug cos I couldn't open the washroom door. =D

Waiting for my hair to dry now cos I wasn't smart/disciplined enough to bathe the moment I got home.

Stupid me. =D

Random post about short unrelated incidents. =)

1. Everyone seems particularly bitchy with me lately. Oh kla maybe not everyone but at least the people I live with at home. What on earth lah! Menopause is it! Or maybe I'm the one who's hitting menopause since all that screaming is directed at ME.

2. I went driving today, yesterday and the day before yesterday. First day I drove to the sundry shop 0.5km from my house. Second and third days I drove to this restaurant called Casablanca which is on the same row as the restaurant called Apollo. All three days I made my mom scream at me in fear. First day I took 10 minutes to reverse the car out of the house. Have to be extra careful cos I drive my mom's car which is relatively new cos I can't drive my brother's car cos he's living at SS2 now. Oh and today I mati enjin at the traffic lights in front of Casablanca cos when I stopped I didn't pull the handbrake so she made me do it cos I'm a new driver and she says the car was sliding backwards (but I don't think it was cos I was inching forward at that time, trying to reduce the distance between my car and the car in front of me). So anyway in the end I pulled the handbrake and at that instant the traffic lights turned green and so I panicked. The engine died twice after which my mom pulled the handbrake again and then the third time the engine DIDN'T die but I was still stuck cos the handbrake was up so I screamed at her to push the handbrake up and I VVVRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOMMed forward. Got a nice honking from the car behind me too! =D

3. Last week I found out my friend's mom reads this blog. Three days ago I found out my uncle reads it too. He reckons we should blog more often and use more pictures.

4. On Monday I went to see this Dr. Ranjit Singh who does cosmetic surgery. He seems like a good doctor, his clinic was packed with people (mostly aunties and uncles) the whole one hour I was there. I felt so out of place! Tried to tell myself that I was just accompanying my father. And NOLAH I WAS NOT THERE FOR COSMETIC SURGERY. My dad brought me there to check out my hair cos I look like I'm balding. Or I look bald. Or I AM bald. Whatever lah. He did this funny scan of my scalp with microscopes (I think) first magnifying the image to 50x then 200x then 1000x, first to see the scalp then pore then hair. Or something like that lah. And this lovely Dr. Ranjit Singh says, it's not my fault I'm bald! Cos it's hereditary... got it from my father. Nasty people out there who used to point out and in crowded places and in very loud voices that I'm bald, I know okay! Stop making me feel ugly. Anyway even though it's hereditary I still went home with two types of pills and two types of hair tonic thingies which he says I should use to prevent my condition from getting any worse. Apparently if I don't do anything I could end up bald like an egg, and I definitely don't want that happening. Lucky my mother has a whole headful of hair lo. Who knows how I might have turned out if my parents BOTH have hair problems.

5. I resent having to rely on other people for financial support and I resent it even more when that person rubs it in my face. I resent it when that person calculates over and over again how much money I've spent the past 18 years of my life and how much more I'm going to spend for my tertiary education. I resent it when that person takes delight in telling me how much I owe and in writing mock 'IOU' notes on my behalf. I'm going to make sure I earn lots of cash in future and pay back every last cent of the money I used. And I'll make sure I brag about it when that day comes.

6. I like our new header!

7. I think I need anger management classes. =D

8. I finished downloading Season 1 of the TV series "Chuck"! It took three weeks you know. Love this site! XTVi. They have 24 and Beauty and the Geek and CSI and Grey's Anatomy and House and Prison Break and Damages and Leverage and all those popular shows. Go check it out! =D

And that's all for today. =)

being the best in everything

Save my earsss. =(

I hate hearing those words. Unfortunately, it's daddy's mantra for everything under the sun.

"You must be the best! Second best also cannot! See, people always remember the first-prize winners! Where got people remember second or third prize one?! Do you know who came second in the 2006 World Cup? No right?! You must be in Team A! Cannot be in Team B! If jadi reserve then zhao gao liao lo!"

And so on and so forth.

It makes me soooo angry lah! Who do you think I am lah! Do I look like a genius to you?

Then when I start grumbling about there only being ONE best in everything, daddy starts: "Then you must give your best and hope for the best!"

Aiyoh. Of course then I'll diam and just let him talk lah. But you see, even if I practise 12 hours a day, I could always do 13 right? And even if I outdo myself and practise during every moment of free time I have, I could still take one minute less to bathe and eat and sleep and then use that one minute to practise right!

Ok lah I know I sound like a very lazy sulky brat now... XD

Come tell me your thoughts about this, anyone. =)

Sorry, Sorry..

I'm feeling very guilty towards everyone else who's been religiously updating this blog of ours. For I have not posted anything on this blog. I hope you guys understand. I don't have the commitment you guys do to keep a blog. But,I will and promise to try my VERY BEST to write once in a while..

Now,let's cut the crap and proceed to some of the more "fun" stuffs I have to tell. I'm going to Kuala Selangor (for the 1st time) tomorrow with a bunch of Korean girls. YES.. KOREAN GIRLS. The reason I'm excited is of course not because they're girls, but because they're Korean. You may not know but I do watch Korean series. And I already got to know some of them earlier when their group and I went for INTI's College Day at INTI Nilai. They seemed "excited" to get to know me,after I showed them the dance for the song "Gee" by Girl's Generation (who are Koreans btw).

(They're the ones who did the "peace" sign and there are 15 of them)

They're here for a Summer Camp Program and we'll be going for a half-day trip to Kuala Selangor. Other than that, not much of happenings from me lately. But maybe some of you may not know yet,but I've moved to SS15. Yes,now I'm staying near college. So NO more bus for me. And I just went for INTI Ball about a week ago (pictures are up on my Facebook account). And I had my International Cultural Night about a month ago (pictures are also up on my Facebook) where I performed and emcee-d.

Anyways, just want to let you guys know,I MISS YA'LL SOOOOOOOOO MUCHHHH...........

One month to go!

Look what I found!'very frizzy, coarse, and untamable hair'

Whoops sorry! picture taken with phone camera as you can see. Is that manufactured for me or what? :D

On a completely unrelated note - unless you put it under the category of 'what Yihui came across this month' - Spring Airlines in China is considering having standing-room only flights to increase flight capacity. Now we're talking a true bus in the Air. No food, no water, no luggage consignment, now no seat! Somehow I forsee a long queue for the washrooms unless they cut that seat too. That'd be interesting. :)

And and if you've been travelling on Federal Highway recently from Klang to KL, you might have noticed this sign. Unfortunately I haven't got a picture of it but it's something like that:

Not sure about you, but erm I think I'll stick to traditional non-pakar hospitals.

I am Home!!!

Plane touched down at around 6.30 this morning, father and mom picked Sylvia and I up and went for dim sum breakfast, then sent her home and went home ourselves, I sat around a bit, sent some messages, sat at the piano a bit, bathed, sat around some more, looked at some pictures, looked at some more pictures, and here I am now!

I know lah. Such a productive morning right!

Okay, going to continue my productive day by napping now, people come talk to me at my old hotlink number! I have so much time on my hands now, plenty to burn walking around in shopping malls. Just don't laugh at me okay. I am so much fatter now, my parents' eyes were popping when they picked me up just now. Nooo~~ No face to meet anyone for now XD But I'm starting my diet by skipping lunch! Stomach growling edi oh no. Okay will save the crap for later, goodnight! =)
